Gorilla

Gorilla records an ID passed in the link as external_id. Use a placeholder in your Populiva study link so the PARTICIPANT_ID arrives there; the three IDs are also added under their own names.

  1. In Gorilla, open your experiment's Recruitment tab, choose a recruitment policy for third-party recruitment (Gorilla's Custom 3rd Party Setup), and copy the study link it gives you.

    Paste it into your Populiva study as the study link, with external_id={{PARTICIPANT_ID}} added. Populiva fills in the placeholder for each participant:

    https://app.gorilla.sc/openmaterials/YOUR-STUDY-LINK?external_id={{PARTICIPANT_ID}}
  2. 2. Send participants back when they finish

    In your experiment tree, open the Finish node's settings and enter your study's completion address as the Onward URL. Copy the exact address from your study page; it looks like this:

    Only participants who should be paid should reach that Finish node. Send screen-outs to a separate Finish node with your screen-out completion code.

  3. Gorilla tasks run in Gorilla's own pages, where our quality snippet can't be added, so you don't need snippet wording. Your consent form should say the study is recruited through Populiva and that you receive an anonymous ID, not names or emails.

Test before you launch

Open your survey link with test values added, for example ?PARTICIPANT_ID=test&STUDY_ID=1&SESSION_ID=test, and check that the three values are saved with your test response.

The snippet ignores sessions it doesn't know, so tests don't create data. The completion address will say there's no active study for you; that's expected outside a real session.
